German Federal Ecodesign Award 2017

The interdisciplinary jury nominated twenty projects from the sectors architecture, energy, nutrition, household, interior, transportation and fashion. Among these, seven were honored during the awards’ ceremony on November 27th at the Federal Ministry for Environment.

“The applications vary from smaller objects like simple and elegantly-designed LED spotlights to bigger projects, such as building construction techniques that implement trees. It is exactly this variety of ideas we need, in order to change our production and consuming habits towards a more sustainable approach” – states German Federal Minister for the Environment Barbara Hendricks.

Overall, 324 projects were submitted this year by companies, design-studios, marketing-agencies, architecture and engineer studios, researchers and students. Among them, 129 made it into the second round of competition, after a preselection by experts from the German Environmental Agency and the advisory board. They were exhibited at the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin on September 11th.
