All around the world, bees are affected by Varroa mites, which are thought to be one of the reasons for the recent mass die-off of bees. The Bienensauna (Bee sauna) is a straightforward means of combating these mites through the use of heat: the bee ‘sweats’ healthily while the heat-sensitive mite is killed. This does away with the need for conventional acid treatment, which is harmful for the bees. Between ‘sauna sessions’ the bee sauna is disinfected with a natural formulation.
