»Intelligent heating control helps to reduce the energy consumption of room heating. Programming the device directly or via smartphone allows the heater to be used only when needed. This is a product with great savings potential that also impressed the jury with its sensitive design and ease of use.«

Three questions for the directors

Can you remember the moment when you first had the idea for Eve Thermo?
In the US, the adaptive thermostat from Nest is almost synonymous with the concept of the smart home. We wanted to come up with an European answer and found the right partner in German heating control specialists Eurotronic.

What was your personal highlight in the development process for Eve Thermo? Was there a low point?
The high point in the history of Eve Thermo was without a doubt the launch of the original version in early 2016. This didn’t have any buttons and the functionality was distinctly limited and so not quite at the level of Nest, but it was certainly ground-breaking.

Where do you see yourself and your project in the next five years?
The already major topic of privacy will become even more relevant in the smart home segment. The Apple HomeKit takes a unique approach in this regard, and it looks set to hold on to and expand its prominent role.
